Part 2: The Struggle – Facing Resistance

Once we recognize the need for change, we face resistance. Change is not easy because our minds and bodies are wired to stick to what’s familiar. This phase is where most people struggle, but pushing through resistance leads to growth.

Why Does Resistance Happen?

  1. Fear of Failure – The thought of trying and failing can stop us from even beginning.

  2. Comfort Zone Trap – Our brains prefer stability, so anything unfamiliar feels uncomfortable.

  3. Lack of Immediate Results – When change takes time, impatience can make us revert to old habits.

  4. External Pressures – Friends, family, or society might not support your new journey.

Lessons from Ancient Wisdom

The Mahabharata teaches us that true warriors push forward despite obstacles. Arjuna doubted himself, but Krishna reminded him that his duty was greater than his fears. Lord Mahaveer, too, faced extreme challenges during his spiritual journey but remained steadfast.

How to Overcome Resistance

  1. Break It Down – Instead of focusing on a massive transformation, take one small step at a time.

  2. Embrace Discomfort – Growth happens outside your comfort zone. Recognize that struggle is part of the process.

  3. Create Accountability – Share your goals with someone who will encourage you.

  4. Use Visualization – Picture yourself overcoming obstacles and succeeding.

  5. Develop Patience – Remind yourself that real change takes time.

Your Call to Action

Think of one area where you are facing resistance right now. What is one small step you can take today to push forward? Write it down and commit to it.
